Chinese Flowers II
Dimensions of Frame: 48cms x 38 cms

Example of the Asian influence on flower forms in the early 1700's as seen in many textiles of the era. I had already embroidered this piece monochromatically in gold silks the week before for a client. Almost as soon as I had finished the first interpretation and it was sent off, I had a thirst to repeat the technical exercise with coloured silks. I disappeared into my studio in the forest and worked all weekend. This was the result. The reds and greens were a tonic to my eyes and I have a strong memory of a very happy couple of days.
